And we're off! Nikki Goes Global via Hong Kong!

So we all found each other (eventually!) in Auckland and made our way to Hong Kong for an overnight stay! We hopped on a bus and ventured out to the BP International Hotel in Kowloon via bus - the heat and humidity of the place hits you as soon as you step out of the airport! After an 11 hour flight, we were ready for sleep and whipped right up to bed.

The morning began with a buffet breakfast, including all the Hong Kong staples like miso, fried rice and noodles and baked beans! I went for the dragonfruit and some crispy hash browns... Coffee too of course!

We then proceeded to wander through the park, find a swimming pool, experience a thunderstorm and incredible rain! The park was full of carp, flamingos and an aviary and even had a mini McDonalds! Our tour of Hong Kong Island began at 1pm and took us to the steepest cable car in the world, fab views over the city, delicious food and then a trip to Aberdeen to see the fishing villages via sampan (complete with hats!) and finishing up in the marketplace.

Our tour guide, Norman, then took us for an amazing traditional shared dinner of a fantastic variety of dishes - battered, fried tofu a firm favourite! Another trip out to see the nightlife and shopping before we ended up back on the bus to the airport.

It feels like it was days ago! Now we sit here at the airport, having experienced such impressive culture shock, awaiting out next 12 hour plane ride - let's hope the movies are good! The Winter's Tale chat is on fire, the wifi is free and the flight seating is dubious, so let's hope all goes well on the way to LONDON!

See you soon, Big Ben!
